Within the male grooming industry, there are hundreds of terms floating around, yet we are often unsure of exactly what they mean. One of these terms in particular is cruelty free. Even though it seems pretty simple, there’s a little more to it than first comes to mind. Here at Mankind, we’ve put together a short guide to cruelty free products to make it a little easier to understand.

What Are Cruelty Free Products?

In short, cruelty free products are products which haven’t been tested on animals. This doesn’t just mean testing the final product, but at any time during production, as well as any ingredients used. The brand cannot employ a third-party company to test any of their products on animals either. When looking for a cruelty-free brand, make sure to check whether they sell in shops in mainland China. Due to the Chinese laws, everything sold on their shelves must be tested first.

Are Cruelty Free Products Safe?

People often worry that cruelty free products aren't safe for use on humans because they've not been tested on animals. You'll be happy to know that isn't the case. The truth is they test everything on tissues and cells grown in a lab, instead of on animals. A lot of brands also conduct clinical studies on humans who have volunteered as an extra safety measure.  This means that they're completely safe to use.

Which Male Grooming Brands Are Cruelty Free?

There are a large range of cruelty free products available for men. From skincare to haircare and everything in between, you can find a large range available to buy right here at Mankind. High quality and effective, you can take care of yourself guilt-free.
