Combating Oily Skin
Once you've determined your skin type, if you have discovered that you have oily skin, you can say goodbye to shine with this simple 3-step skincare solution for men to help combat oily skin.
Step 1: Cleanse
Men's skin is naturally oilier than women's but some men are especially prone to oiliness and, as a result, spots and blemishes too. What's more, hot weather can make things worse by stimulating the sebum-producing sebaceous glands, so start your oil-busting regime by cleansing skin thoroughly with Clinique Oil Control Face Wash. This won't dry out skin like some soaps can, which is important since stripping the skin of all its natural oils can stimulate further oil production – and that’s the last thing you want! Lather over damp skin, rinse well and towel dry for optimum results.
Step 2: Absorb
The oil that your skin produces might be essential for its overall protection, but too much of the stuff can wreak havoc with your appearance. So mop up excess oil twice a week with a clay mask like men-u D-TOX Deep Clean Clay Mask, which contains Kaolin Clay, Witch Hazel and Zinc Oxide to remove excess oil, as well as black heads and impurities.
Step 3: Protect
It's a myth that oily skin doesn't need moisturising (oil and water are two different things after all) but the right moisturiser is key to keeping your skin as healthy as possible. Go for an oil-free one like Anthony Oil Free Face Lotion which not only adds moisture, but also shields the skin from environmental damage with SPF15 protection. And there you have it - oil disaster averted thanks to Mankind!
You’ve successfully learnt to deal with the shine created from oily skin, now it’s time to cover up imperfections with Lesson 4: Applying Concealer.
