Face brushes are one of those products that can be difficult to appreciate when you don’t have one, but once you’ve tried them, you soon find they’re indispensable. Performing a similar job to exfoliant scrubs, the bristles break down and remove dead skin cells and deep lying dirt, while sonic pulses penetrate further into the skin than can typically be managed by hand scrubbing alone. Most will see great results straight away, but if the effect it has is lost on you on first trying it, after a number of weeks, you’ll find your complexion much brighter, more even, and the appearance of blackheads, bumps and blemishes substantially reduced.

How to use a Face Brush

The first step is to wet your face with warm water. Following this, apply a small amount of a daily cleanser or face wash to your brush. You don’t need to use an exfoliating scrub as the bristles of the brush will do the same job as scrub particles.

With the product on the brush, use for 30-seconds to a minute, focusing on areas which are most affected by dry skin, blackheads, or spots. Reapply your cleanser as necessary to the brush.

When it comes to frequency of use, it comes down to personal preference. If your skin is highly sensitive, it can be damaging to your skin to use more than once or twice a week. For many, especially those with oilier skin which tends to flake less naturally, it can be used as much as twice a day.

Good to know: in the first couple of weeks of use, your skin may become slightly prone to breaking out. This is due to the minor micro-abrasions of the skin caused by the exfoliating process, and is nothing to worry about. To keep it under control, use sparingly at first and gradually increase the intensity over time.  After a couple of weeks of regular use, your skin will adapt and the breakouts will typically clear up.
