Even though you’re fully stocked up on your skincare and male grooming swag, you may be finding yourself still looking for that additional little touch to make yourself look even fresher on a daily basis. It’s all well and good spending your hard earned cash on some top quality eye cream and hydrating moisturisers, but the one part of your grooming regime you may be missing a trick on is your sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep is the easiest way to retain your youthful glow, no matter what your age, but with a fast moving lifestyle how do you achieve this?
Get a Good Night’s Sleep with Our Tips
Cut Down on the Caffeine
Some days it feels like we need an IV drip with a high concentrating dose of caffeine straight in to our bloodstream, but drinking too much caffeine on the daily can impact your sleeping regime at night. Coffee can impact your sleep up to 12 hours after you've drunk it, so try and keep your coffee breaks before lunch time. In the afternoon switch over to green tea or caffeine free to ensure you’re not keeping yourself up at night.
Don’t Hit Snooze
Hitting snooze every morning can feel like the most tempting thing in the world, but if you do this irregularly then it can have a knock on effect in the evening. By disrupting your body’s natural clock like this, you can confuse it, leaving it unable to determine what time you actually need to sleep and what time to naturally wake up. On the back of this, also try and avoid napping, as that similarly disrupts the flow of sleeping times. Simply head to bed a few hours earlier to eradicate these two habits in one go!
Put Your Phone Out of Reach
It is a well-known fact that using your phone or device whilst in bed not only prevents you from nodding off quickly, by stimulating your mind when it needs to switch off, but the light from the device can also be particularly disruptive by confusing your body clock. Also, if you put your phone across the room, when your alarm goes off you have to get up to turn it off and therefore avoid the temptation to hit snooze!
Develop a Solid Routine
There’s a reason babies and children need a routine and there’s no reason why adults wouldn't be able to benefit from keeping one too! Train your body and your mind to know when bed time is coming by using your grooming routine to act as little triggers that slumber is imminent. Cleanse, moisturise and treat your skin and hair the same time in the same order each night and your body will soon realise that these points are the wind down routine to get ready to switch off for the night.
