Planning a Valentine's date night can be a really daunting task. Rather than letting nerves get the better of you, stay calm and concentrate on getting the basic plans in place and the rest will come naturally. Here at Mankind, we’ve put together some of our top tips to make sure your perfect valentines date night runs smoothly without a hitch.
Set the Mood
Atmosphere is a big component to get right when it comes to a Valentine's date night. Without the right mood, it makes it difficult to relax and enjoy the romance, so you need to ensure this is right. If you’re eating at a restaurant, you shouldn’t need to worry. Just make sure to book a table well in advance and request a candle on your table too. If you’re cooking at home; dim the lights and light a few candles. For an extra boost, pop a vase in the centre of the table and some string lights around the room.
Food is the Way Forward
Your choice of food makes a huge impact on your valentines date night. If you have bad food, it can easily ruin an otherwise perfect date. For those of you cooking, make sure that you make something you’re familiar with and if you want to try something new, make time to cook a trial first. If you’re booking a table somewhere, read plenty of recent reviews online to get a feel for the place. We recommend opting for Italian food due to its romantic connotations and range of hearty, delicious dishes. Don’t forget to finish off the date with a tasty chocolate dessert too!
Pay Attention
In a world full of technology, it’s far too easy to end up checking your emails or social media accounts. The last thing you want to be doing on your Valentine's date night is to get distracted by your phone! Switch it off or at least put it out of sight so you can’t be tempted to check it and make conversation instead. Your date will appreciate it and the lack of distractions could help you two to learn something new about each other. Make ‘no electronics’ your golden rule and you might be surprised how much of a difference it makes!
Get the Perfect Gift
As we’ve said previously, flowers and chocolates are predictable. When you’ve subtly incorporated these things into your date night, it leaves you with free reign to surprise your loved one with a gift they’ll love and certainly not expect! Take a look at our Valentine's gift guides for him and for her for some inspiration.
Re-enact the First Date
If the two of you have been dating for a while, reminiscing in the past makes for a perfect date. Re-enact your first date by having the same meals, doing the same things and discussing memories from your first date. It’s the ultimate recipe for romance leaving you feeling nostalgic and you could even make it a tradition. Another hidden beauty of this date night tip is that you’ve already done all the planning the first time round so just copy the latter and it’s a recipe for success!
