Once summer is over and you’ve packed away your t-shirts and shorts, it’s time for a wardrobe switch up. However, that doesn’t mean that you must opt for baggy, unstylish clothing to stay warm. In fact, autumn wardrobe staples can maintain both style and comfort with ease. As you step into the new season, take a look at our autumn fashion essentials to revamp your wardrobe.
Autumn Wardrobe Staples for Men
Rain Jacket
It’s inevitable that you’re going to get caught out in a downpour at some point during the autumn season. Yet, you can stay prepared with a modern rain jacket which isn’t incredibly bulky, and will prevent you from getting completely soaked. Look for waterproof material, large pockets and versatile colours to really add to your outfit. Make sure to check for a well-fitting hood too so you can protect your hair.
Smart Boots
After the downfall of rain, the last thing you want is for poorly equipped shoes to soak up puddles. You don’t need wellies to protect your feet anymore as a classic pair of Chelsea boots or leather ankle boots will more than suffice. To keep your socks and feet dry, invest in a high quality pair of boots which will fit well with most outfit choices. Brown or black are the most versatile options.
Stylish Scarf
A cold wind will affect your neck and overall body temperature more than you may first realise. Combat this by incorporating a stylish wool or cashmere scarf into your wardrobe choice. Pair it with our other autumn staples for a classic, yet edgy look which can be worn anywhere. Top Tip: Aim to avoid stripes and other patterns if you’re not wearing a plain shirt to avoid clashing.
Light Knitted Jumper
During autumn, it’s a little too early to wear a thick, chunky knit, yet a warm light knitted wool jumper will work great. You can layer them over shirts and t-shirts or wear them alone, it’s completely up to you. In terms of colours, opt for neutrals such as browns and beige's. Alternatively, add a twist of colour with autumnal shades like green and burgundy. If you’re not a fan of the jumper, switch it out for a different cut or wear a cardigan instead.
Flannel Shirt
The flannel shirt has recently started cropping back up into autumn wardrobe staples from the side-lines. Simple yet stylish, you can choose any colour combination to suit your personal taste. Wear it open over a t-shirt on warmer days, or button it up and wear underneath a jacket when it’s cooler. Team it with a quality pair of denim slim fit or straight leg jeans, change up the shoes depending on the occasion and you’re all prepared to face the weather.
