On 1st April each year, people across the world pull pranks on each other, and a harmless April Fools’ Day prank is usually hilarious. Over the past few decades, hundreds of brands have got involved in the day to trick their customers and although some were terrible, we have quite a few favourites. Continue reading to discover some of the best April Fools Day pranks which have caught us out over the years.
Beard Glitter
In 2014, the Texas Beard Company had a one day special sale to purchase beard glitter. Even though glitter beards became a huge trend one year on, this was the first that anyone had heard when it came to these cascades of sparkling hair. Said to ‘make your beard more fierce and fabulous’, it clearly opened up the market for a whole new range of beard care products.
The iShave
If you’re not a huge fan of facial hair, the beard glitter probably didn’t catch your eye. However, The iShave April Fools’ Day prank may be more up your street. In 2004, a German software company advertised an attachment for your iPod to transform it into an electric razor. This way, you could get a smooth shave no matter where you were. We think we’ll just stick to electric shavers from the experts…
WD-40 Aftershave
Recognise the iconic blue and yellow can of WD-40? In 2010, the brand announced they were launching an aftershave using the same scent of the multipurpose oil. They then went on to inform everyone that they would be launching a deodorant to go with the fragrance the following year. We’re pretty certain that you’re better off finding a fragrance which won’t leave you smelling like a shed, so check out our guide to help you choose.
How To Choose The Right Fragrance
Knowing how to choose the right fragrance isn't as straightforward as you may think. When deciding on your next scent, there are a couple of things we think you should consider, in order to increase the chances of you being happy with your purchase. Here's our quick guide which should increase the accuracy of your decision making when it comes to fragrance.
Iceland Face Masks
A good face mask can do wonders for your skin. We already know that some fruits and vegetables are great ingredients to improve the skin, but Iceland’s Therapea frozen peas face mask certainly came as a shock to us. Using the hashtag #PowerofFrozen, they claimed that the frozen peas held the secret to youthful, healthy skin. Here at Mankind, we think we’ll pass and opt for regular face masks.
Top Benefits Of Using A Face Mask
Once your daily skincare regime is in place, taking care of your skin is fairly simple. However, sometimes your skin just needs an extra boost to keep it looking and feeling healthy. When this happens, what do you do? The answer is simple… use a face mask. The power of a face mask is often underestimated, but they have plenty of benefits which will leave you wondering why you haven’t used them sooner! Continue reading to find out everything you need to know about these incredible skincare saviours.
Marmite Vaseline
Whether you love it or hate it, Marmite made sure you couldn’t escape one April Fools Day thanks to their collaboration with Vaseline. The two companies teamed up to trick everyone into thinking they could purchase a Marmite infused flavoured lip balm. Sadly, if you’re a fan of this iconic spread, you’ll just have stick to the actual product rather than expanding your product range to lip balms. Luckily, we have a lip balm which everyone will love to save your lips from chapping.
A Man's Best Friend
We think that we had a pretty good shot at April Fools Day with 'A Man's Best Friend' this year too. Did you fall for it?
